New single 'Big Blue Moon' - out on all streaming platforms NOW!
Darren A. Flynn is an award-nominated singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. His sound covers a spectrum of classic Americana from folky introspection right thru to good old fashioned rock n roll.
“Big Blue Moon”, his latest single, is available on all streaming platforms now. It draws on influences from the likes of old-school Country and Bluegrass music (such as the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Dillards and even a little bit of Sweetheart of the Rodeo-era Byrds) and has an energetic sound somewhere towards the poppier end of the turf occupied by the likes of Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers and The National Parks.
The song was written, produced and recorded by Darren, mixed by Alan Gregson (famous for producing the seminal “Brimful of Asha” by Cornershop), and features guest banjo playing by the incredible Johnny Butten - recognized by Guinness World Records as the Worlds Fastest Banjo Player – who has played with the likes of Hayseed Dixie, Oakridge Boys and Albert Lee, among others.
His first album, with the band Moo, sold close to five figures independently.
He has performed at myriad Irish festivals such as: The Electric Picnic, Kilkenny Roots Festival, Vantastival, Sligo Live, Knockanstockan, Canalaphonic, Bloom Festival, Doolin Folk Festival, Spraoi Waterford, Carlow Arts Festival, Boyle Arts Festival, BARE in the Woods, Dublin City Soul Festival, Oktoberfest Dublin, YouBloom Festival, Rock n Roll Half Marathon, Blues Roots and Brass Festival Dublin, Dublin Rock n’ Roll Festival, Valentia Isle Festival, Swell Festival & Secret Garden Music Festival
As well as at International Music Festivals: Feito a Man Festival, Santiago De Compostela (Spain), Focus Ireland Festival, Noia (Spain), Camping Be Cider Seaside Festival (UK)
He has played internationally in: The UK, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands & Italy.

With his former band Mongrel State he realeased the album “Mestizo” which was produced by Gavin Glass (who has worked with Billy Bragg, Joe Jackson, John Grant & Paul Brady amongst many others) and had its lead single playlisted on national Irish radio (RTE Radio 1).
The album was nominated for the Choice Music Award (the Irish equivalent of the Mercury music award).
His debut single as a solo artist was “Mountain Whiskey” which received airplay on national radio (e.g. Brian Lally's “Country Time” on RTE Radio 1, several shows on RnaG), and also received airplay internationally in Australia, the UK and the US, where it has featured on several nationally syndicated shows such as KAFM 88.1's show “Bluegrass and Beyond”.
